Experience Ghent on a 4-hour guided walking tour including local beer tastings,
geneva gin, chocolate delights and a visit to the Stadsbrewery.
Discover the authentic atmosphere of this historic Flemish city while enjoying
its most iconic flavors.
Ghent is located in the Flemish-speaking part of Belgium. While it is a popular tourist destination,
it has preserved its strong local identity and authentic atmosphere.
This walking tour offers a complete overview of what the city has to offer.
The tour starts at 2:00 PM at Saint Bavo Square,
home to the Saint Bavo Cathedral, world-famous for
The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb by Jan and Hubert Van Eyck.
Your guide will provide a historical introduction to the City Theater and
Ghent’s Belfry Tower. Before heading to the Stadsbrewery, enjoy a stop at
Chocolaterie Vanhoverbeke for a tasting of three exquisite chocolates
made from premium cacao beans.
Ghent is unique for its beer culture. The city has two local breweries located in the center,
producing beers made with gruut instead of hops, giving them a very distinctive taste.
At the Stadsbrewery, you will enjoy a guided introduction to the brewing process,
followed by two beer tastings.
The tour continues to the old medieval port with its historic guild houses and
the impressive Castle of the Counts of Flanders.
One of Ghent’s specialties, besides beer and chocolate, is geneva gin.
You will visit one of the smallest taverns along the waterside, facing the old meat halls.
The experience concludes with three additional beer tastings in
carefully selected taverns hidden in the city center and unknown to most tourists.
The beers are served with local snacks.
After the tour, you may continue exploring Ghent’s charming streets
and enjoy traditional dishes such as Waterzooi or Gand ham at a local restaurant.
